Recently, Fort Bend County Levee Improvement District No. 7 (FBCLID 7) has seen a significant amount of debris being placed by residents in the District’s levee and drainage right of ways. Typically, this debris is in the form of landscape trash: bags of grass clippings, hedge and tree trimmings, and piles of dirt and/or soil.

The Board of Directors wants to remind all residents that this a hazard to the operation and maintenance of the District’s levees and drainage systems. Debris can block drainage ways and cause flooding, or become obstacles to the operator or engineer as they attempt to maintain our system or address a concern. It is imperative that these areas remain clear at all times. We had previously addressed this concern in February with our “Only Rain Down the Drain” article. This applies as well to the levee and drainage infrastructure.

Please protect yourself and your neighbors by properly disposing of your trash and not placing debris on the levee and drainage ways.
